Mechanical Engineering Jobs
Mechanical engineering is the design, construction, and operation of machines, power plants, and engines – so is the engineering discipline of things that move. There is a huge need for mechanical engineers in many different industries, and sectors.
How to become a Mechanical Engineer...
To become a mechanical engineer, it is imperative you are qualified within this discipline. Ideally you should obtain at least a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BEng). Many engineers go on to complete a master’s degree in higher-level mechanical engineering, or a more specific mechanical engineering discipline, such as Electromechanics or Computer Aided Design (CAD).
It would be most beneficial to recent mechanical engineering graduates to have completed a year-in-industry work placement within industry as part of their course. Or at least completed summer work in a relevant industry. The competition for mechanical engineering jobs is fierce, so you need to have that edge over other recent graduates.
Many Mechanical Engineers aim to develop their career in such a way as to become chartered. You would need begin this process by becoming a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE). Whether Chartered or not, member of this professional body would help your application for mechanical engineering vacancies, and it would give you access to mechanical engineering jobs. Professional bodies are there to support Chartership routes.
